mother's day gift guide

custom luggage tags
$21 | Etsy
Luggage tags with an address already printed on them are a pretty and useful way to identify your bag. I like the plastic ones that can be customized with a fun design on the front and the address on the back, but there are plenty of others online.

$21 | Kikkerland
water from a stone
This gift is for the mom who loves indoor plants. It's a no-fuss way to keep your plants alive by just filling the stone with water. These are especially great before going on vacation.
amaryllis
$28 | Gardenuity

Amaryllises are my go-to gift. They don't need water -- just have to be rotated weekly before the gorgeous bloom (3-5 weeks). Gardenuity does a wonderful job making sure the wax is elegant and festive, and the owner is a friend (s/o Ms. Eggers!).

kindle pouch
$30 | Etsy
This cute Kindle cover is one of the best gifts I've ever received (along with the Kindle Paperwhite). Mine is from ElizabethMayfair on Etsy, but there are tons to scroll through from other vendors, too. If your mom likes paper books, consider a customized book stamp or bookmark.
tiffany glass umbrella
$40 | Henry Ford Museum

Tiffany glass designs are just stunning -- especially on an umbrella. Lots of museums like the Chicago Institute of Art and NY History Museum sell them, but I bought mine from the Henry Ford Museum.

fancy colander
$40 | Golden Rabbit
Few would buy themselves a fancy colander, which is why it's a great gift. I got my mom this one for Mother's Day last year and she loved it. There are plenty to choose from big-box retailers and marketplaces, but I picked a Monet print from Golden Rabbit Enamelware (very reliable and ethical).
$55 | Food52
market tote bag

I'm obsessed with this CapaBunga tote -- it has 6 smart pockets that fit canned and boxed items, a big swell in the middle for all-sized items, and a strap on the side for flowers. The faux leather straps are durable. It's the best tote bag on the market (for the market!).

corset belt
$80 | Anthropologie
Every time I wear this belt, I am asked where it's from because they want to gift it to their wife or to themselves. The Tabitha Stretch Corset belt is sturdy, stretchy, and flattering for all body types.

watercolor-fied photo
$90 | Etsy
After my cousin's wedding, I had a picture of the "dress reveal" moment turned into a framed watercolor. Transform a family photo or your favorite picture with your mom into a watercolor. You can get the digital file for <$50 and then print, mat, and frame yourself. I purchased the 6x8 watercolor already matted and framed and shipped directly to her for $90.

experience tickets
Varies ($100+)
Spending time with loved ones is the best possible gift. If they live far away, surprise them with a visit or with an Amtrak, Airbnb, or airline gift card to help see you. If they live close, get tickets to see a musical, play, exhibit, symphony, or movie together.
